The present project concerns the social audit to improve governance and accountability in the social sectors in Egypt. It's a formal process for auditing development activities and their social, economic, and environmental impact. The application of social audits should promote increased transparency and accountability in the management of public resources at decentralized levels in Egypt. Having citizen participation in the evaluation of social services should also serve to improve the delivery of services by ensuring that they are more tailored to population needs.
The objective of the project is to enhance citizen voice, accountability and community participation through social auditing as a means of improving service delivery in the health and education sectors. More specifically, this project aims to develop a social audit framework and toolkit for application in the North African context and in Egypt in particular.
The beneficiaries of the project are Egyptian citizens.
