Project General Description

This intervention concerns Strengthening Capacity of the Administrative Control Agency to Combat Corruption in Egypt. It aims to optimize the supportive and critical role that the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) plays in the implementation of the National anti-corruption strategy 2014-2018. This specifically regarding the combat of corruption and the promotion of transparency and integrity to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector, to improve the quality of services and to build citizens’ confidence in State institutions. The project has three inter-related components, namely: (i) strengthening capacity of ACA to effectively combat corruption; (ii) Advocacy, awareness raising and knowledge management on AC; and (iii) project management.

Project Objectives

The project development objective is to strengthen the Government of Egypt’s capacity to implement anti-corruption strategies.

Beneficiaries

The main beneficiaries of the project are Government bodies and institutions including Local governments and staff members. It is expected that the ACA and the concerned institutions will have enhanced capacities and tools to implement the national AC strategy and conduct corruption risk assessments. 50 ACA Staff will be equipped with new areas of expertise in fields such as seized assets, cybercrime and new investigative techniques, and 200 ACA staff skills will be upgraded in area of IT. Close to 500 government officials will benefit from awareness raising and training workshops on anti-corruption conducted by ACA.
