Souk At-Tanmia is the largest known mobilization of Partners in support to social entrepreneurship and business environment development in Tunisia.
The African Development Bank (AfDB), in collaboration with several partners, including donors, public and private sector entities, academic institutions and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), launched Souk At-Tanmia (SAT), an initiative aimed at tackling the pressing issue of access to finance, as well as unemployment and social inequalities in Tunisia.
The pilot edition of SAT was launched in July 2012, followed by a second edition in April 2014. Through the first and second editions, SAT has proved to be significantly efficient in achieving its objectives.
The Souk At-Tanmia Tatweer Tunisia, a component of SAT Third Edition with the main objective of facilitating established promising SMEs in access to finance and business growth. In partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), SAT Tatweer Tunisia aims to address the gaps in financing and support system, and work closely with best in class young ventures in their ramp-up phase to help them access the required follow-on financing from the traditional financial system. Hence, SAT Tatweer Tunisia will play a catalytic role in attracting local commercial financial institutions to fund undercapitalized SMEs. Such young enterprises struggle to secure equity participation and debt loans to fund their expansion and scaling up plans.
