The Economic Transformation and Job Creation Support Project (PATECE) is designed to consolidate private sector support institutions and promote the structural transformation of the economy. It is in line with Burkina Faso's development strategy and objectives. The link established between the strengthening of professional capacities, while fostering the emergence of a skill reservoir and the strengthening of private sector support institutions, will help to spur growth driven by the private sector. By basing its strategic guidance on promising sectors and striving to involve women, the operation will also contribute to the structural transformation of the economy. This project will also contribute to strengthening the professional capacities of youth and women, and enable them to access qualified positions or to be self employed as a means of improving their living standard and that of their families. The PATECE has three components: (i) consolidation of private sector development institutions; (ii) promotion of the structural transformation of the economy; and (iii) support for efficient project management.
The global objective of PATECE is to promote private sector development for inclusive, job creating growth. The specific objective of the project is to (i) consolidate private sector development institutions and (ii) promote the structural transformation of the economy.
The project’s direct beneficiaries are the private sector support institutions (APEX, MICA, CGA, AFP-PME, the Directorate of Female Entrepreneurship, ABNORM, CEFPO and IRSAT). The indirect beneficiaries are private sector operators including micro, small and medium enterprises, especially those managed by women. The final beneficiaries are the population of the whole country who will enjoy better living conditions thanks to inclusive private sector growth which generates jobs, particularly in promising sectors with high value- added.
