The project contributes to increase the capacity of reception and to improve the quality of the lessons, to promote the schooling of the young girls. It’s expected to strengthen the institutional capacity of the education / training sector, including through the training and retraining of teaching and supervisory staff and the provision of central and decentralized services. Its actions should also contribute to the reduction of regional and gender disparities and the fight against poverty. The project comprises the four following components: (i) strengthening basic education; (ii) strengthening of technical education and vocational training; (iii) institutional capacity building of the sector; and (iv) project management.
The sectoral objective of the project is to contribute to the training of human resources in order to reduce poverty. The specific objectives of the project are: (i) contribute to improving access to basic education and technical and vocational education; (ii) contribute to improving the quality and relevance of the education system; and (iii) strengthen the institutional capacity of the education / training sector.
The main beneficiaries of the project are children of school age, particularly in the disadvantaged areas of the north of the country, for which the construction of school infrastructures and the improvement of their retention in the education system is planned. Among the target groups, special attention is given to girls (at least 50% beneficiaries) to support the Government in its efforts to improve women's schooling and status and to reduce poverty.
