The present intervention is related to the Health System Strengthening Project (Health II). It aims to contribute to improving the health status of the Beninese population. The project should help to: (i) make functional health infrastructures available to the population, adapted to socio-economic and environmental realities and easily maintained; (ii) rehabilitate the existing infrastructure of three (3) sub-prefectures of the Borgou department; (iii) strengthen the central level by providing logistical support for the restructuring of the Ministry of Health; (iv) strengthen the activities of the Borgou Departmental Health Directorate (DDS) and; (v) create a departmental unit for the maintenance of various equipment, buildings and rolling stock in order to improve the provision of care in peripheral and intermediate areas. It comprises the following four components, namely: (i) strengthening of health infrastructure in the Borgou department; (ii) strengthening of the Ministry of Health; (iii) establishment of a departmental infrastructure and equipment maintenance unit and (iv) project implementation office.
The objective of this project is to contribute to improving the health status of the Beninese population in general, and of the target rural populations in particular (children under 5 years of age and women of childbearing age).
