The present project relates to the institutionnal strengthnening local authorities for effective service delivery. It's designed by the Government of Botswana with the support of the African Development Bank. The project comprises five main components, namely: (i) updating and redrafting of the policy manuals: consultancy for reviewing and redrafting operating manuals; (ii) updating and redrafting of the policy manuals: two stakeholder workshops; (iii) training; (iv) implementation of inventory module: computers and accessories; and (v) implementation of inventory module: engagement of causal workers.
The main objectives of this project are as follows: (i) Update and redraft the local authorities policy documents/procedure manuals; (ii)Training of 7 finance officers in the Ministry of Local Government in cost recovery measures and debt management for 14 days; (iii) Training of 7 finance officers in the Ministry of Local Government in computerized accounting for 18 days; (iv) Training of local authorities in computerized accounting by the 7 finance officers in the Ministry of Local Government who have been trained in computerised accounting; and, (v) Identification and valuation of inventory and setting up of local authorities inventory module.
The main beneficiaries of the project are: the Ministry of Local Authorities, the Local Authorities and the Government of Botswana.
