The present project is related to the Study of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation (AEPA) of the 16 chiefs of Prefecture of the Central African Republic (CAR). The project focuses on the diagnosis of AEPA of the 16 chiefs of Prefecture, and the preparation of detailed draft of drinking water supply and sanitation for the 6 chiefs of prefecture already served by SODECA, in a perspective of the sustainability of the water service in urban areas. This study should give more visibility to the water and sanitation sector and a clear idea of the importance of the investments to be made to achieve the sectoral objectives for water and sanitation. It's organized around two components, namely: (i) the study of the drinking water supply and sanitation of the 16 chiefs of Prefecture and (ii) the management of the project.
The overall objective of the study is to contribute to increasing access to safe drinking water and sanitation for improving the health and well-being of urban and semi-urban populations in CAR. The specific objective of the study is to create favorable conditions for investments for drinking water supply and sanitation of the sixteen prefectural headquarters of the CAR, by studying the technical and financial capacity of SODECA and, for the 6 localities currently served by SODECA, the definition of projects that will contribute to the sustainable satisfaction of drinking water and sanitation needs by 2025 of the African Water Vision.
The expected beneficiaries are the populations of the 16 prefecture chiefs representing approximately 524,000 inhabitants, and more generally all Central African populations.
