The project of construction of the Riviera - Marcory bridge and access roads was initiated by the Ivorian State because of the need to guarantee the fluidity of urban traffic in the city of Abidjan. The link between Riviera and Marcory , better known as the "Third Bridge", is an urban expressway linking the towns of Cocody and Marcory by a bridge over the Ebrié Lagoon. The project has 2 x 2 lanes in the northern part of the Boulevard François Mitterrand at the toll station, then 2 x 3 lanes on the viaduct and in the southern part (Marcory). Its total length is 6,600 meters broken down as follows: 1st Section (Bd Mitterrand - Toll booth: 2,600 m); 2nd Section (Toll booth - INJS (viaduct): 400 m dike and 1,500 m viaduct); 3rd Section (INJS - Bd VGE (Marcory): 2,100 m). The third bridge will provide significant gains in distance and time on the north-south routes, with positive skills on the economy in general and on the environment, including air pollution by limiting distances traveled and traffic jams. https://vimeo.com/201839640#at=26
The project aims to unclog the current axes of crossing the Ebrié lagoon. Only the Félix Houphouët-Boigny and Charles de Gaulle bridges connect the southern areas to the north, and these are saturated most of the day.
The main beneficiaries of the project are the populations of Abidjan.
