This intervention focuses on the project to support training for the integration of young people and improve the efficiency of the education system. It’s part of the implementation of the educational policy of the Ivorian Government and is one of the realistic and appropriate solutions to the problems of the Ivorian education system. The project should enable, among other things, 42,500 young people and children to be functionally literate, provide skills training, including 6,000 youth apprenticeships, improve the training of primary school teachers in 10 CAFOPs, introduce set up 4 regional centers for documentary resources, train 30 trainers and provide computer literacy for 5,000 teachers and administrators and 30,000 students in 10 high schools and colleges, retraining 30 technical education trainers and vocational training (TVET), training of higher education professors in the field of distance education, the training of educational supervisory staff, training of 100 study directors and educational supervisors of private institutions 150,000 students and teachers in public and private higher education institutions benefit from an awareness and HIV / AIDS prevention. The project is also expected to build / rehabilitate and equip 810 primary classrooms which represents 40,500 additional places for primary education and train 5,000 management committees in infrastructure maintenance. It’s one of the realistic and appropriate solutions to the problems of the Ivorian education system. The components of the project are: (i) support for training for the integration of young people; (ii) promoting access, retention and quality in formal education; (iii) institutional capacity building and intra-sectoral coordination; and (iv) project management.
The sectoral objective of the project is to support the implementation of the country's sectoral education and training policy. The specific objectives of the project are: (i) contribute to education and training with a view to facilitating the integration of young people into working life; and (ii) contribute to improving the access, quality and relevance of the education system as a whole.
Two main groups are targeted by the project. A first target group concerns young people in school and out of school aged 16 to 25, looking for work and other ways of finding work. It is estimated that nearly 250,000 of these young people arrive each year on the job market. The second target group is school-aged children, particularly in the disadvantaged areas of central and northern areas, for which school infrastructure is planned and their retention in the education system improved. In addition, among the target groups, special attention is given to girls to support the Government in its efforts to improve school enrollment and the status of women and reduce poverty.
