The present intervention concerns the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure Inventory Project. It’s designed by the Cameroonian Government with the support of the African Development Bank Group. The main results expected from the study are: a better knowledge of the existing water supply infrastructure and the potential of the water resources of the country, an inventory of fixtures for each sub-sector in terms of service level for the year of reference (2006), all stakeholders in the sector take ownership of the results of the study in the life of a more coordinated implementation of the initiative; and a socio-economic and macro-economic analysis of the sub-sector carried out by 2015. It comprises two components, namely: (i) national inventory of WSS infrastructure, (ii) operation of the Project Coordination Unit.
The project aims to: (i) design and develop a national rural DWSS program to achieve the objectives of the Initiative in Cameroon; (ii) create the right conditions for the development of an investment program of the initiative; and (iii) strengthen the institutional framework for program management.
The main beneficiaries of the project are: Cameroonian Government, actors of the water sector and the populations, in fine.
