The Maintenance Base Project is part of Air Algérie's installation and maintenance development program. It has several advantages, including reducing the cost of maintaining the cells, and consequently saving money. The project should make it possible to stem these currency outflows, avoid production losses caused by inappropriate aircraft downtime due to Air Algérie's dependence on foreign maintenance bases and reduce maintenance costs. The main components of the project are as follows: (i) construction of a 23,920 m2 hangar of ancillary premises consisting of workshops and offices; (ii) connection to the water and electricity networks; (iii) acquisition of equipment for the hangar, workshops and offices; (iv) consultancy services for the supervision and control of the works, acceptance and supervision of the installation of the equipment.
The objective of this project is threefold: (1) improve Air Algérie's capacity to maintain the airframes of its aircraft, (2) enable the country to make substantial foreign exchange savings and (3) lay the foundations for regional cooperation in airframe maintenance.
The project is expected to benefit mainly Air Algérie, investors and political authorities.
