The present project concerns the drinking water supply of Sidi Bel Abbes. It aims to contribute to improving the country's health and hygiene situation by increasing the supply of drinking water to the population. The project thus continues the Algerian Government's investment programme to meet the population's demand for drinking water. It should provide an annual volume of 22 million m3 to Sidi Bel Abbes, 2 million m3 to the secondary centres located along the supply line, and 10 million m3 to the Oran conurbation. The project has the following components: (A) acquisition of the land necessary for the project, (B) water treatment plant, (C) five raw water pumping stations and four treated water pumping stations, (D) supply and installation of the supply pipes with their ancillary equipment, (E) raw and treated water tanks and the buffer tanks of the pumping and distribution stations, (F) remote control and telecommunications installations, (G) connections to the medium-voltage electricity grid, (H) supervision and control of works, (I) support for EPDEMIA and AGEP, and (J) rehabilitation of the drinking water distribution network in Sidi Bel Abbes.
The objective of the project is to ensure an interrupted supply of water to Sidi Bel Abbes, seven secondary localities located along the supply pipes and provide an additional volume of water to the Oranese agglomeration, which is the second largest city in the country.
The project should benefit the populations of wilayas de Sidi Bel Abbes and Tlemcen.
