This intervention concerns the Gas Transmission and Distribution Project. It aims to meet new gas demand in cities already served, to supply natural gas to new cities and towns, to strengthen the security of supply for existing customers and to increase the country's gas supply rate under the best conditions of reliability, safety and cost. The project is expected to supply 123 new towns and cities with natural gas and connect 363,000 new low-pressure subscribers (200,000 in new towns and cities to be supplied with gas and 163,000 in existing towns), 520 new medium-pressure customers and 2 high-pressure cement plants. It also aims to improve the conditions for the operation and supply of gas to customers in terms of quality and continuity of service.
The objective of the project is to increase and rationalize the use of energy so as to ensure that, in the long term, the country's energy needs are met by one of the most available, cleanest and least expensive forms of energy, namely natural gas, thus contributing to better protection of the environment.
The project should benefit the entire Algerian population.
