The Project for the Strengthening of Technical Education is part of the economic and social development strategy established by the Algerian Government. It aims to provide the country with the skilled labour force that the economy urgently needs. The project includes: (A) the construction of 48 technicums, the supply of furniture, equipment and technical-pedagogical materials to 48 technicums, (B) the introduction of information technology as a discipline in the technicums and as a means of managing the education system in 900 institutions, (C) the carrying out of three studies on the adequacy of training and employment, productive work in technical and vocational education institutions, and the national production of educational materials and equipment. The four main components of the project are: (1) creation of 48 technicums, (2) information technology, education and management, (3) studies to promote education and (4) project implementation unit.
The project aims to improve the quantity and quality of technical and computer education.
The main beneficiaries of the project are students, teachers, authorities in charge of the Algerian education system and other stakeholders.
