This project is designed to enable the National Institute for Standards (NIS) and the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (EOS) to obtain technical assistance and training in the latest measurement techniques and calibration, acquisition and maintenance of calibration equipment and general organization of activities in metrology and testing laboratories. The institutional support to NIS should cover all four major divisions of NIS and their fourteen laboratories, while all EOS support should be directed to the two departments of the organization that are in charge of the measurements of industrial metallurgy and calibration activities. The project should also contribute to the standardization and coordination of activities between different metrology laboratories in Egypt through the provision of operational directives in metrology. It comprises four main components, namely: A) technical assistance; B) training; C) equipment and materials; as well as D) information systems.
The objective of the project is to strengthen the metrological and calibration capabilities of the National Institute for Standards (NIS) and the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (EOS) to enable them to adopt the latest and most advanced and accurate calibration to meet the increasingly sophisticated requirements of industries as well as scientific and technical organizations.
The ultimate beneficiaries of the project are the National Institute for Standards (NIS) and the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (EOS).
