This project focuses on the Shoubrah El-Kheima interconnection transmission system. It's part of the development program of the Egyptian Electricity Authority (EEA) for the production and transmission of electricity, in order to cope with the growing demand of subscribers at the industrial, commercial and domestic plan. It's also expected to restore and strengthen the Cairo area transportation network, improving the quality and reliability of the service. The project comprises the following components: A) Underground transportation, 220 Kv; B) Air transport, 220 and 500 Kv; C) substation installation, 220 Kv; D) substation installation, 500 Kv; E) Replacement of circuit breakers; F) Consultants services.
The project aims to improve and strengthen the Cairo area transmission network by interconnecting the Shoubrah El-Kheima thermal power plant with the Unified Power System. This should improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply.
The main beneficiaries of the project are: the Egyptian Electricity Authority (EEA), the enterprises and the Egyptian population.
