This project fits within Egypt long-term plan on the development of her human resources. It aims to assist the Government in improving the quality, equity and relevance of the technical education offered by the country’s technical secondary schools. This will be done through support for the upgrading of these institutions' physical facilities, the strengthening of their maintenance systems, the improvement of the quality of their instruction and management strategies and through support for project management. The project will also provide professional training programs for teachers, managers, advisors, administrators and support staff involved in this sub-sector. Its implementation of the project is expected to last 5 years (60 months).
The objective of the project is to strengthen the sub–sector of industrial technical education and in particular to improve the quality, relevance and equity of the 5-year technical secondary schools to match international standards through provision of new instructional technologies and improved management.
Through the project, the learning conditions for approximately 40,000 students currently attending these schools and thousands of future generations of learners of both the 5 and 3-year technical secondary schools will be improved.
