The present project relates to the Institutional Support to the Ministry of International Cooperation (MIC). It's initiated because the MIC, which is is the principal institution responsible for developing and nurturing relations with foreign countries and international and regional organizations in all matters related to economic cooperation, was weak in terms of information system capacity for the efficient utilization and management of foreign aid. The main outputs of the project comprises an efficient mechanism comprising upgraded hardware and software, a computer network and a large pool of trained personnel at Ministry of International Cooperation for management of Egypt’s foreign aid and readily available aid and debt data at Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) for government and donors wishing to be kept informed of progress on a continuous basis. The components of the project include information systems development, technical assistance, training and equipment.
The objectives of the project are to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of International Cooperation and further develop the debt management system at the Central Bank of Egypt. These objectives are to be achieved through the provision of equipment, technical assistance, development of information systems and training in order to ensure appropriate utilization of the significant inflows of external resources.
The main beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of International Cooperation.
