The objective of the project is to provide rural infrastructure, in Bale and Sidamo Provinces, as this is one of the main bottlenecks to agricultural and socio-economic development in Ethiopia in general and in these two region in particular. This will be achived by providing the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) with the foriegn exchange to purchase the necessary equipment to carry out the construction and maintenance work, using a farily high proportion of labour, through the Rural Roads Organisation. The Provincial Committees will decide on the priorities of programming for the roads to be constructed.
