The present intervention concerns the Health Services Development Project. It aims to improve the health status of the population through the increased use of high quality health services. The expected Project outputs are: i) 15 MCH/FP centres to be built and operationalised in 3 provinces; ii) 30 rural community clinics to be built and operationalised in 3 provinces; iii) three water quality control, food and entomological control laboratories to be built and operationalised; iv) provincial sanitary engineering services to be made operational in the three provinces of the project and three branches (Port Gentil, Mouila and Franceville) ; v) information available on complementarity function of the Port Gentil and Lambaréné hospitals; and vii) architectural plans and Bidding Documents for the National Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Service and provincial hospitals. The present project comprises the following three components: 1) enhance the efficiency of the curative health care delivery system; 2) improve the MSPP’s capacity to control certain communicable and; 3) prepare Phase II of the project involving the rehabilitation of the provincial hospitals and the establishment of the National Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Service.
The project objectives are to: i) enhance the efficiency of the curative and preventive health care delivery system by strengthening the health services of three provinces – Ogooué-Ivindo, Ogooué-Lolo and Nyanga; ii) build the capacity of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) to control certain communicable diseases by strengthening the Sanitary Engineering and Public Sanitation Services; and iii) prepare Phase II of the project, involving the rehabilitation of provincial hospitals and the establishment of a National Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Service.
The intended beneficiaries are the people of the deprived communities of three provinces of Ogooué-Ivindo, Ogooué-Lolo and Moyen-Ogooué.
