The aims of the project were to provide additional port capacity to meet present and future traffic requirements including container traffic by expanding and rehabilitating the port infrastructure. Navigational safety were improved by upgrading the existing navigation lights, the installation of new mooring buoys and the procurement of a pilot boat and mooring boat. The port management and operation were strengthened by a training assistance programme.
