Project Objectives

1. Overall Objective : The project is intended to improve the prevailing unsanitary conditions within a major portion of Banjul by the elimination of the smelly stagnant sewege pools within the open storn channels. The project will improve the standard of living and the health of Banjul population as well as reduce flood demages. The provision of proper sanitation will constitute a step towards commercial and industrial growth. 2. Specific Objectives : The project is intended to provide a water borne sewerage system to the city of Banjul, to improve the carrying capacity of the Box Bar and Ring drainage channels and to provide an efficient pumping schedule for the Bund Polder Station. Institutional building is provided for through the Training and Technical Assistance components.
