The Poverty Reduction Project aims to mitigate negative impacts of the structural adjustment programmes embarked upon from 1988. It’s designed in response to the desire by the Government of Equatorial Guinea to implement a poverty reduction project. The project should involve intermediation structures such as NGO/CBOs to manage the micro-credit award and recovery scheme. The expected outputs are: i) Putting in place of credit networks; ii) Credit to micro-enterprises Implementation of microenterprises Self-sustained system; iii) Granting of credits to the poor and vulnerable group. The project has four (4) components, namely: (i) Micro credit for Income Generating Activities (IGAs); (ii) training and institution building; (iii) community support to investment initiatives; and (iv) Project Management.
The project objective is to promote micro-enterprises with a view to creating employment and increasing the incomes of poor and vulnerable people in the country.
The primary beneficiaries of the project are the poor and vulnerable people/groups in the country. Secondary beneficiaries include NGOs, Micro Credit organisations as well as government institutions managing the project.
