The principal economic benefit of the project is the increased output of crops valued at R. 1.70 million (FUA 2.27 million) at full development. The net income would be about R. 178.50 (FUA 228.5) per acre. This is income shared by the farmers and Government, and would help raise Government revenue and thus reduce the dependance of the public treasury on foreign asistance for the development and recurrent expenditure.
