Project General Description

The present study of a mining development plan in Morocco is indispensable, and will redefine a strategy and measures to revitalize the mining sector of this country, which has been experiencing persistent difficulties for some years. The establishment of the mining development plan is justified by the place occupied by the mining activity in the Moroccan economy, and the current difficult situation in the sector for several years due to both external and internal factors. The study should seek in Morocco and possibly elsewhere, all the information necessary to know the potentialities and problems of the Moroccan mining industry, in order to propose conclusions and recommendations applicable in the short and medium term, especially for the revitalization and sustainable development of the sector. The overall cost is estimated at 1.9 million FCU, for a study that will last about 15 months.

Project Objectives

The study focuses on the search for a new strategy of mining development policy in Morocco, the definition of institutional redevelopment measures to give more efficiency to the institutions of the sector while reducing the burden on the budget of the State, and to make the mining sector more attractive for domestic and foreign private investors.

The program will benefit directly to the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco.
