The second road project constitutes the logical continuation of the various actions defined by the Government. It's part of the road program for the rehabilitation and maintenance of 2300 km of roads, the rehabilitation of 5000 km of shoulders, the horizontal signaling of 5000 km of roads and the acquisition of maintenance equipment. The project should allow to safeguard the road infrastructure, meet the transport demand at the lowest cost and strengthen the capacity of the Directorate of Roads and Road Traffic (DRCR) to maintain the classified network. The implementation of the project should allow for an easier flow of agricultural products under optimal cost and speed conditions. Easy access to health and social services and regional capitals should also be a factor of sedentarization of populations and development of project areas of influence.
The project aims to strengthen and take over the priority network and ensure the ongoing maintenance of this network; it thus help to reduce the operating costs of the vehicles and to ensure the comfort of the users.
The main beneficiaries of the project are the populations of southern, southern central and eastern Morocco.
