The project consists in strengthening the drinking water supply of the cities located on the Rabat-Casablanca axis (Rabat, Casablanca, Tamesna, Temara, Mohammedia, Bouznika, Benslimane, ...), as well as neighboring urban and rural centers, which have significant urban and tourist development. It aims to guarantee the drinking water needs of these areas until 2030. The project, costing UA 221.31 million, will require a turnaround time of 48 months (2010-2013). It includes a "production" part with a pumping station, a raw water discharge pipe and a treatment plant, and a "transport" part with a treated water supply pipe and will strengthen the production system. Drinking water supply for an area that will be saturated with its current drinking water supply system by 2013.
The project will improve the socio-economic and health living conditions of the populations by securing drinking water supply in urban and rural centers.
The project will benefit primarily the populations of the cities concerned and neighboring urban and rural centers. In terms of water supply, it will strengthen and improve the quantity and quality of drinking water supply for about 5 million people by 2014 (about 700,000 in rural areas).
