This project is part of the Bank's intervention program for the development of the drinking water supply system in the region of Tangier and allows to meet the drinking water needs of the city of Tangier until 2020. It includes the construction of the new Charf El Akab pumping station and the pipes to the city tanks. The project was also to allow the RAID to improve its technical management by the realization of water and electricity distribution master plans, the study of Charf El Akab aquifer and the supply of mining equipment. The interventions are divided into seven (7) components. The first two concern the main components of the project, namely the construction of the pumping station and the supply and installation of pipes. The other components concern the supply of operating equipment, three studies, and technical assistance for the control of works.
The project aims mainly to supply drinking water in sufficient quantity to the city of Tangier until 2000. Incidentally, the project was intended to improve the production and distribution of the RAID by executing a series of studies.
The main beneficiaries of the project are the RAID, the urban populations and industries of the city of Tangier.
