The present study project is supported by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE- Water Branch) of the Kingdom of Morocco. It is part of the development of the Drinking Water Supply Master Plan for the northern area of ??the Moulouya watershed. This study will deal with the following aspects: (i) presentation of the study area and update of the drinking water needs of the urban and rural population in the northern basin area on the horizon (2035); (ii) inventory and detailed analysis of all resources allocated to drinking water and comparison with the data contained in the studies of the Master Plan for Integrated Management of Water Resources of Moulouya (PDAIRE); (iii) development of the overall resource requirements and homogeneous sub-areas to define saturation dates for water resources and identify service plans to cover long-term needs the study area; (iv) establishment of an EPA master plan for the study area.
The project will enable the State Secretariat for Water and Environment and at the Tensift Watershed Agency to follow the process of artificial recharge of the Haouz aquifer, to document this experiment in order to have reliable information needed for the extension of this technical option for optimizing the management of water resources.
The project will mainly benefit the population of Haouz.
