The Matmata Hydroelectric project is in line with the policy of valorization and exploitation of national primary energy resources laid down by the Gouvernment of Morocco. It is among the haut sebou projects meant for water and electricity supply. It is also one of the essential elements of the program to develop electricity generation facilities to meet short and medium-term energy demand, particularly peak load demand. The project has the following components: (i) modulation pool; (ii) civil engineering; (iii) power station; (iv) conduits; (v) balanced chimney; (vi) secondary components; (vii) Engineering, works control.
With an installed capacity of 241 MW, the project is intended to generate electricity to meet ONE’s interconnected network peak load requirements.
