The Electricity IV project is part of the overall development policy of the central-west region of the country. As part of this project, the construction of a 225-kV transmission line, among others, linking major cities in central-west Morocco should strengthen the supply of electricity to the southern region during the years of severe drought. At the same time, it should allow the transport of surplus energy to the north during years of high rainfall. In addition, the prior existence of energy should attract industrial, craft and other enterprises, which should benefit from the external savings generated by the project.
The main objective of the project is to evacuate the power of the Mohammedia thermal power station and the Al Massira hydroelectric power plant through the construction of substations and transmission lines.
The project should initially benefit the populations of the large cities of the central-west and in a second time to the entire population of Morocco.
