The present “Electricity VII” project forms part of the programme of development of the national interconnected electricity transmission network. It comes after five other transmission facilities extension projects already financed by ADB since 1970 with a total amount of UA 28,40 million. The project involves the extension of 225 kv, 60 kv and 22 kv networks. It will contribute to improve the development of Morocco’s electricity transmission network. The main components of the Project are: (i) strengthening the 225 KV supply of Tangier, Tetouan and their regions; (ii) 225 KV Erachidia connection; (iii) 225 KV connection of Tantan; (iv) 60 KV reinforcement of Ben Slimane's diet; (v) 60 KV reinforcement of the supply of Tiznit and Sidi Ifni; (vi) connection to the 60 KV grid and electrification of 9 centers; (vii) strengthening networks 22 of GHARB and TADLA; (viii) studies, control and supervision of the works.
The project is intended to reinforce and extend electric energy transmission networks with a view to meeting growing power demand and ensuring greater security of supply in the north-west, central-south and south regions, and also to enabling connection to the general grid and electrification of nine (9) secondary localities (8 in the east and one in the south of the country).
