The Financial Sector Adjustment Program aims to support private sector financing as the engine of economic growth. It's designed following a study conducted in December 1984 on the state of the financial sector. The program is expected to contribute to maintaining a stable macroeconomic framework, despite years of drought in 1992 and 1993. The program is organized around four components, namely: (i) monetary control; (ii) development of financial markets; (iii) interest rate and the selective credit policy; and (iv) prudential management and banking supervision.
The objective pursued through this program is to make the financial system more efficient and more competitive in order to achieve a better allocation of resources.
The ultimate beneficiaries of the program are the Moroccan populations.
