This project to support basic education is part of the overall framework of the educational reform program, in that it is the result of a diagnosis of the problems facing education in rural areas, namely: declining enrollment, excessive rates of attrition and repetition, and a qualitative decline in education. The four-year project will consist of the following four components: (a) improving access to education by increasing the capacity of basic education, particularly in rural areas, (b) the increase in the primary school attendance rate in rural areas, especially for girls, (c) improving the quality of primary education, and (d) capacity building for planning, monitoring and evaluation of the education system. The total cost of the project, including taxes on locally produced goods, is estimated at 122.54 million UCB.
The project aims to assist the government in its rapid expansion efforts and improve the quality of primary education in rural areas, while remaining within sustainable budget limits. In addition, the project will strengthen the capacity of the school mapping, monitoring and evaluation services of the MEN.
