The present intervention focuses on emergency humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake of 24 February 2004. Indeed, during the night of 23-24 February 2004 a violent earthquake caused extensive material and human damage. This is one of the most devastating events in the country in 40 years. The official record of this earthquake indicates a thousand victims including nearly 600 dead and missing and total or partial destruction of housing, economic infrastructure and community amenities. In the face of this disaster, the Moroccan Government mobilized significant human and material resources and requested humanitarian aid from the international community to provide relief and relief to the affected populations. This operation is part of this framework. The assistance of the African Development Bank Group of US $ 500,000 is expected to strengthen the work of the Government and partners.
The objective of this humanitarian aid is to help alleviate the suffering of the victims of 24 February 2004 on the one hand and, on the other hand, to prevent any epidemic risk linked to the precarious conditions of hygiene and seismic cleansing in the affected areas. The assistance of the African Development Bank is complementary and aims at consolidating the action of the Government and partners.
The main beneficiaries of this operation are the victims of the earthquake of 24 February 2004 in Morocco.
