The present intervention concerns the Rehabilitation Studies of National Roads RN6 (PK158-PK497) between Boriziny and Ambanja, and RN1bis (PK38-PK94) between Fanjakamandroso and Tsiroanomandidy. These studies are part of the rehabilitation/maintenance of Madagascar's priority road network. The rehabilitation of this network is one of the axes of the new sub-sectoral policy. The proposed studies also cover priority road network axes and are part of the Bank Group's intervention strategy in Madagascar. They cover a length of 395 km, 206 km of which are dirt roads. The studies have two phases. The first phase covers technical and economic feasibility studies and the second phase covers detailed technical studies.
At the sectoral level, the studies are part of the new sub-sectoral policy aimed at improving the efficiency of the transport system through the rehabilitation of the priority road network. The specific objective of the studies is (i) to identify, in homogeneous sections, the optimal alternatives for the development of roads RN 6 and RN 1 bis, and (ii) to draw up the execution and tendering documents for the works to be carried out.
The main beneficiary of the studies is the Malagasy Government.
