This intervention focuses on Structural Adjustment Program Phase III (SAP III) 1999-2001. It’s part of the government's extensive program of enhanced reforms, covering the period 1999-2001. The program aims to accelerate the rate of growth and substantially reduce poverty. SAP III has three components, namely: (i) support to the participatory process of developing a poverty reduction strategy, including the development of technical capacity; (ii) improving governance and institutional support to promote private sector development; and (iii) financial support to the balance of payments to contribute to the achievement of the macroeconomic objectives.
The goal of the project is to create the conditions for strong and sustainable growth to reduce poverty.
The main beneficiaries of the program are the Government and the people.
