In addition, the project is expected to significantly improve income and quality of life in the project area. The project should contribute to the achievement of the objective of food self-sufficiency, which is one of the highest priorities of the government's development policy. It also aims to provide some security for food production in the project area, which has been in a state of permanent shortage for several years.
The main beneficiaries of the project are farmers in the Tombouctou region.
