Project General Description

AWF, in partnership with the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) and the Government of Denmark (GoDk), is implementing a regional program to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and assist in recovery through the preparation of climate-resilient water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and water resources management investments in the capitals and rural areas of five countries in the Sahel (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger) and the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Somalia).

Project Objectives

In Mali, the objective of this project is to strengthen the resilience of the populations of the city of Bamako to the effects of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic through a sustainable improvement of the drinking water supply, hygiene and sanitation systems, including the improvement of the technical and commercial performance of the water systems in the city of Bamako. For public latrine construction works, the main activities are: earthworks (earth cuttings, excavations, shoring of excavations, etc.); The foundations; concrete and reinforced concrete structures; masonry work; the cover; coatings; woodwork; sanitary plumbing/faucets; the painting.


This project consists in the construction of twelve (12) latrines in eigth schools and three health centers in the communes V, VI of the districts of Bamako and Kalaban Coro.
