The proposed project consists in granting an EUR 30 million line of credit to BDM-SA (Banque de Développement du Mali). This should enable it to meet the investment needs of its clientele through long-term financing. This clientele consists of large companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in sectors considered to be labor-intensive such as agribusiness and social housing. BDM-SA is a performance-oriented financial institution that provides funding under fair conditions to Mali’s economic operators as demonstrated by the sound economic and financial performance achieved throughout its existence. This Banque has become a major asset for implementing AfDB policies on private sector development in general, and SME/SMI development in particular. In order to take into account the African Development Bank's strategic priorities, it has been negotiated with BDM-SA that at least 15 % of the facility is dedicated to women entrepreneurs. The latter, in addition to financial resources, will benefit from a training cycle and supervision as part of a technical assistance program co-financed by the Bank.
The project goal is to strengthen BDM-SA’s capital base by granting it long-term resources to facilitate access to medium- and long-term credit for Mali’s private sector enterprises.
The main beneficiary of this Line of Credit (LOC) is the Banque de Développement du Mali (BDM-SA) which will provide long-term financing to its clients to meet their investment needs. This clientele consists of large companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in sectors considered to be labor-intensive such as agribusiness and social housing.
