The present intervention concerns the Feasibility Study of the University of Mali. It is designed by the Government of Mali with the support of the African Development Bank Group. The study is structured around two main phases, namely: (1) Phase I-A: Preparation of a master plan for the establishment of the University; (2) Phase I-B: Detailed preparation of the potential project; and (3) Phase II: Preparation of the technical implementation files.
The objectives of the study are as follows: 1) Take stock of the situation of the entire education system and indicate its implications for the future development of higher and university education; 2) Update the studies already carried out on the contribution of the High Schools to meeting the needs of the national economy for skilled manpower, (highlight the proportion of women in this workforce); 3) Identify the needs for skilled manpower (men and women) needed to develop the economic potential of the country's main regions; 4) Examine on the basis of the above the National University's implementation project as proposed by the Government; 5) Make recommendations for improving the Government's proposals, and propose alternatives, if necessary, to make the National University a development instrument adapted to the needs of the country's regions.
