The present project concerns Groundwater Investigation Study for Western Owambo and Kaokoland. This study aims to compile and evaluate all available data concerning the hydrogeology and hydrology of the project area under consideration and to formulate an appropriate strategy to achieve the objectives of study. The work should involve a desk study, field surveys and a drilling program in order to evaluate the potential of groundwater resources in each study area to support domestic, industrial and irrigation water requirements. The study should be carried out in two phases: Phase I and Phase II works. Phase I work should include the Desk study and Field Survey works, while Phase II should include siting of boreholes, drilings and preparation of the study report.
The objectives of the study is to develop the groundwater resources of western owambo and Kaokoland in order to plan a realistic socio-economic development strategy in those regions.
The beneficiaries of the project are the Government of The Gambia and the people of West Owambo and Kaokoland regions.
