The proposed intervention will finance technical and other support towards strengthening institutional and human capacity of National Council of Higher Education (NCHE). The technical assistance to be financed with the Middle Income Country (MIC) resources will allow the recruitment of a quality assurance expert to strengthen NCHE staff capacity, coordinate and advise NCHE on auditing higher education institutions and establishing quality assurance standards. The intervention is in line with the Bank's Ten Year Strategy (2013-2023) through its support to knowledge generation and integrating inclusive growth in its investment agenda. The provision of grant resources from the MIC Fund forms part of the efforts by the Bank Group to establish a pipeline of operations in Namibia.
The project objective is to support the capacity strengthening of the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE), which is the institution responsible for ensuring quality assurance in Namibia's higher education system.
The main beneficiaries of this project are NCHE, Higher Education Institutions, Public Service Commission, Private Sector, teachers and students.
