This project is related to a EUR 13-million line of credit granted to the Société Nigérienne des Banques (SONIBANK). These resources are intended for the medium and long term financing of small and medium-sized enterprises or/and industries (SMEs/SMIs) in Niger, particularly in the agro-food and poultry industries, real estate, construction, public works, trade, transport as well as education and health sectors. SONIBANK intends to increase its support for SMEs-SMIs that can finance the expansion of their activities in a context where access to medium and long-term loans is difficult. The indicative portfolio of projects comprises 12 enterprises, which are expected to benefit from loans averaging one million euros, enabling them to create 184 permanent and 503 temporary jobs, thereby promoting poverty reduction and Niger’s socio-economic development.
The project's overall objective is to promote sustainable private sector growth, job creation, poverty reduction and socio-economic development in Niger.
The main beneficiaries of this support are the Société Nigérienne des Banques (SONIBANK), small and medium-sized enterprises or industries (SMEs/SMIs), and the private sector in Niger.
