The institutional support project forms part of the series of actions supporting the country’s economic and social development. It should help the Government to improve the country’s technical and administrative capacity in economic and financial management. The project comprises the following components: (i) provision of technical assistance to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning; (ii) training of national managerial staff through the organization of seminars, short training courses and training abroad; (iii) procurement of the necessary equipment for the services involved in the project; (iv) operating costs of the implementation unit and the other elements of the project. The project will be implemented over a period of three (3) years starting from December 1997.
The project aims, generally, at strengthening national economic and financial management capacity and, sectorally, at supporting the principal institutions responsible for drawing up the country’s macro-economic frame work and monetary and financial policy.
The project main beneficiaries are the Ministry of finance and Economic Planning and the National Bank of Rwanda.
