The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction project is designed to contribute to post-conflict economic and social recovery in Sierra Leone. The project comprised of the following components: (i) Capacity Building of Beneficiaries (population those most effected by the civil conflict) and Implementing Partners who included non-governmental and community-based organizations as well as government institutions; (ii) Creation of an Emergency Recovery Support Fund (ERSF) to be used to finance sub-projects on a grant basis and which are demand-driven and community-based rehabilitation and reconstruction interventions.
The project aims to support communities and vulnerable groups in war-affected areas to re-establish their livelihoods and production systems, build capacity of government institutions and local organizations, at the district level, to provide effective support to the immediate and longer-term process of reconstruction and national development.
