The Somalia National Statistical Capacity Building Project is initiated by Government of the Republic of Somalia with the support of the African Development Bank. The project includes four components: (i) Institutional Development is to facilitate the establishment and transformation of the Statistics Departments through the formulation and implementation of National/regional statistical development strategies and Statistics Acts; (ii) Staff Training will be composed of two subcomponents; (iii) Information Communication Technology (ICT) is to facilitate the production and management of statistical data in the Statistics Departments on a sustainable basis; (iv) Project Management and Audit.
The principal objectives of this project are: (i) to formulate the policy, institutional, legal and strategic frameworks to support statistical development for the Federal Government , Puntland and South-West Administration; (ii) to enhance the technical capacity of staff, through trainings, and; (iii) to building functional Information Communication (ICT) for the Statistics Departments in Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation.
The project direct beneficiaries include the Federal Government of Somalia, Puntland and South-West Administration; the Statistics Departments in Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation and Staff as well as Statistics users.
