The Energy Sector Support Project is designed by the Kingdom of Swaziland with the support of the African Development Bank. This project consist of the following components: (i) Develop and implement a comprehensive a wind and solar resource measurement program for the country with the main aim of producing solar and wind resource maps and atlases and capacity building in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy; (ii) Review and Update of the National Energy Policy and the National Energy Policy Implementation Strategy; and (iii) Prefeasibility study of a potential cascading hydro power scheme on the Ngwempisi River.
The main objectives of this project are to support investment in electricity supply infrastructure; this will improve the security of energy supply and improve the rate of access to electricity, thus helping the country achieve its Vision 2022 goals.
The project will benefit the Government of Swaziland and energy sector stakeholders.
