This intervention concerns the Support to state owned enterprises reforms in Eswatini. It will help the government to fast track much needed reforms for achieving fiscal consolidation, restoring macro-economic stability and making much needed capital and social investments. This project will contribute to economic transformation and inclusive growth. It also solidifies the Bank’s position as trusted partner that is responsive in a time of need, while complementing and catalyzing the Bank’s ongoing and future support to the country. The project has three components, namely i) Supporting Reform of the Legal and Regulatory Framework for SOEs, ii) Improving the performance and monitoring of SOEs and iii) Project Management.
The specific objective of the project is to improve the governance and performance of SOEs by streamlining the number of SOEs.
The project will benefit the entire population of Eswatini, particularly youth and women who are more impacted by poverty and unemployment.
